I have trained with Melissa for 8 years – starting out in a CrossFit class setting in 2015 and since early 2020, in a one-on-one Zoom class setting three times a week.  She is hands-down the best trainer/coach I have ever worked with – and that’s over multiple decades.  In our workout sessions, Melissa is consistently cheerful, positive and engaged, and has a seemingly-infinite variety of workarounds for any given movement, depending on any injury or other temporary limitation  -- or even just lack of easily-accessible training equipment.  As I’ve gotten older, Melissa has subtly added in new routines, stretches and suggestions to help me continue to perform my best in strength-training movements, and it’s apparent that she does substantial research outside our sessions to add to her already-considerable base of knowledge and experience.

Melissa has been patient enough to train myself and classmates via zoom for about 3 years now.  This is not an easy task.  It is difficult to program workouts for 3 people who are at different fitness levels, have different types of equipment at home and have different injuries.  She is able to account for all that and still have us working hard with varied and inventive workouts and feeling fitter and stronger.  It is difficult to help us make adjustments to our form and quality of movement by watching through a screen and yet, she does it easily and promptly and is ready with a modification if needed.  Melissa makes it feel like we aren't working out alone in our individual basements.  She is talkative and encouraging but not annoying or intrusive.  She truly has our best interest in mind.  I went from going to a gym religiously and consistently for years and while zoom classes with Melissa started out as a necessity (due to covid), this is the only way I want to work out from now on.

Working with Melissa these past three years has changed my life for the better! I never thought I’d be in the best shape of my life in my late 50’s, but here I am, lifting heavier weights, performing actual push ups (not from my knees!), and feeling lots of gratitude for the daily ease of movement I have, which many friends my age do not enjoy.  More than that, Melissa’s care in planning for/responding to our group’s injuries, levels of muscle fatigue, and general physical issues is 100% personalized and delivered with care.  Who else has a coach texting during the day to check on you when you are sick??  Melissa has been a gift in my life.
